The Opportunity

Bring your expertise in laboratory administration to UniSC and play a key role in supporting undergraduate science teaching laboratories! You will work closely with the Team Leaders, Science and the Safety and Compliance Technical Officer, to provide advanced administrative support, ensuring the efficient coordination of WHS processes that are necessary for the operation of science teaching laboratories. Your comprehensive understanding of universities structure, policies, operation, safety and compliance protocols, laboratory procedures, scientific methods, and equipment will help managing day-to-day operations and communications that support the delivery of practical science activities in the teaching laboratories.

You will

  • Provide high level administration support to ensure the efficient coordination of the Science Team including liaising with Technical Operations staff, academic staff, students, and external stakeholders;
  • Ensure compliance with relevant policy and procedures governing the support of the Science teaching laboratories; and
  • Enhance processes using a continuous improvement and best practice ethos.

About you

You will be systems orientated with strong analytical, and problem-solving skills, to ensure the seamless operation and compliance of the teaching science laboratories. With excellent communication, you build trust and foster collaboration across all levels of staff, maintaining positive relationships with the university community. Your organisational and time management abilities allow you to deliver high-quality service in a fast-paced environment, ensuring compliance with relevant policy and procedures are met and outcomes achieved. Whether working independently, or as part of a team, you contribute to a supportive, collaborative workplace culture and shared success.

You will possess:

  • Completion of a degree, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and / or education or training;
  • Previous work experience in providing a broad range of technical support in teaching and/or research activities, including preparing reagents and solutions, operating standard laboratory equipment and conducting routine laboratory tests and procedures in a relevant discipline; and
  • Excellent communication, organisation, and problem-solving skills to facilitate and promote a positive work environment, manage multiple tasks and deadlines, to ensure compliance and efficiency in laboratory settings.
