The Opportunity

Student Services is seeking experienced and compassionate casual Student Success Advisers to support students throughout their university journey. This role focuses on providing proactive and personalised support to help students engage academically, emotionally, and behaviourally with their studies.

As a Student Success Adviser, you will work directly with students through in-person, online, and phone-based consultations, supporting the development of academic, digital, and English language literacies. You will also provide targeted support to students experiencing challenges that may impact their engagement or progression.

This role involves case management for students identified as at risk of disengagement, connecting them with appropriate internal and external services, and working collaboratively with colleagues across the University to support positive student outcomes. You may also contribute to workshops, resource development, and priority projects that enhance student engagement and success.

You will

  • Provide advice and guidance on all aspects of the student experience to support engagement and academic success;
  • deliver consultations that build students’ academic, digital and English language literacies;
  • identify and support students at risk of disengagement, including providing case management for complex needs;
  • work collaboratively with internal stakeholders including Student Wellbeing, AccessAbility, Careers and academic staff; and
  • contribute to workshops, resource development and student success initiatives.

About you

You are empathetic, organised and solutions-focused, with strong interpersonal and communication skills. You enjoy supporting students from diverse backgrounds and are confident managing complex situations while building positive relationships across the University.

You will possess:

  • Relevant tertiary qualifications, preferably in social services, education, psychology or a related field;
  • Experience supporting student engagement, success or wellbeing programs;
  • Strong communication, relationship-building and conflict resolution skills;
  • Excellent organisational, analytical and problem-solving abilities; and
  • The ability to manage competing priorities while maintaining confidentiality and professionalism.
