The Opportunity

As a Lecturer in Law, you will develop curriculum, deliver high-quality teaching, and contribute to research collaborations within the School of Law and Society. Your expertise will be central to shaping student understanding of legal theory and practice, supporting the academic and professional development of graduates.

You will also engage with industry and community partners to strengthen professional networks, contribute to research grant applications, and play an active role in governance, program coordination, and school-wide initiatives. This is a dynamic role where teaching, research, and community engagement come together to drive real-world outcomes.

You will:

  • contribute to learning and teaching practices in law, designing, delivering, and evaluating high-quality curricula;
  • undertake research, supervise honours and HDR candidates, and participate in successful research grant applications; and
  • engage with industry, community partners, and professional bodies to support student opportunities and school development.

About you

You are a values-driven legal academic, passionate about delivering inclusive and engaging learning experiences. You thrive on connecting theory to real-world applications and building strong relationships with students, industry, and community partners. Collaborative and supportive, you foster a positive academic environment where students and colleagues can succeed.

You will possess

  • Completion or near-completion of a doctoral qualification in law or a related field (or equivalent accreditation and standing);
  • Proven effectiveness as a teacher, including curriculum design, delivery, and evaluation, supported by peer review or student feedback;
  • Evidence of research activity, including publications, research projects, and supervision of honours and HDR candidates;
  • Membership of, and connections with, relevant professional bodies and community networks;
  • Strong personal qualities and collegial approach, contributing to a positive academic environment; and
  • Evidence of ongoing professional development and commitment to continuous improvement as an academic.

Desirable

  • Experience in program coordination or leadership within a university;
  • Recognition for excellence in teaching and/or research;
  • Successful supervision of HDR students to completion;
  • Experience with program reviews and external accreditation.
