The Opportunity

Join our vibrant Sport and Exercise Science team and play a key role in shaping the next generation of health and exercise professionals. You’ll contribute to our teaching excellence, particularly in large service courses in exercise science and clinical exercise physiology, with a focus on motor control and learning, and neurological or mental health conditions. Alongside inspiring students, you’ll grow your own research profile, develop professional expertise, and contribute to projects aligned with the School’s strategic priorities, making a genuine impact in both academia and the community.

You will:

  • shape innovative sport and exercise science education through curriculum design, teaching leadership, and mentoring, with recognition for excellence in learning and teaching;
  • deliver impactful research, secure grants, publish widely, and mentor future researchers to drive real-world healthcare solutions;
  • contribute to governance, strategy, and initiatives that enhance the School and University; and
  • build partnerships, collaborate on real-world projects, and create opportunities that benefit students and society.

About you

You’re passionate about shaping the future of sport and exercise science education, bringing fresh ideas, innovative teaching, and real-world relevance to every class. You create engaging learning experiences that inspire students, stay ahead of emerging trends in your field, and embed cutting-edge research into your teaching. You’re driven to lead projects that matter, publish work that influences practice, and mentor the next generation of healthcare leaders. Outside the lecture theatre, you build strong industry and community connections that create real opportunities for students and deliver benefits to society. Collaborative and inclusive, you’re the kind of colleague who leads by example and makes a positive impact wherever you go.

You will possess:

  • completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing in Exercise Science or Exercise Physiology with Exercise and Sports Science Australia (ESSA);
  • proven track record as an effective teacher, the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to relevant areas of teaching;
  • sound and established track record of research activity commensurate with the level of the position;
  • sound leadership contributions and personal qualities that influence the development and maintenance of a positive academic environment which is conducive to high levels of engagement and standards of achievement for both staff and students;
  • participation and success in academic administrative functions e.g. program coordination, within a University;
  • membership of and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups and/or in professional practice; and
  • evidence of regular participation in academic development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic.

Desirable

  • postgraduate qualifications in higher education.
  • formal external and/or internal recognition for excellence in learning and teaching and/or research.
