The Opportunity

Information Technology at UniSC is at the forefront of digital transformation—enhancing how we teach, learn, research, and engage with our communities. As part of this strategic journey, we're seeking a Cyber and IT GRC Officer to strengthen our cyber security governance, risk, and compliance capability.

This role is a vital contributor to the ongoing development and implementation of UniSC’s cyber security framework, working across teams to ensure our digital environment is secure, resilient, and aligned with regulatory and institutional priorities. Reporting to the Manager, IT Business Program Management, and working closely with the Senior GRC Officer, you’ll provide support across cyber governance, risk management, and compliance, helping the university manage and mitigate information security risks effectively.

You will:

  • support the enhancement and implementation of UniSC’s cyber security governance, risk, and compliance (GRC) framework, policies, and procedures;
  • assist with cyber risk assessments, compliance monitoring, and third-party security reviews across digital and cyber projects; and
  • collaborate with stakeholders to promote a security-aware culture and ensure practices align with regulatory obligations and strategic goals; and
  • support the delivery of IT Governance, Risk and Compliance tasks and audit responses.

About you:

You are an adaptable and detail-oriented professional with a strong understanding of cyber security risk, compliance, and governance. You bring a thoughtful, analytical approach to your work, ensuring that risk is well managed and security frameworks are implemented effectively.

With the ability to engage stakeholders across both technical and non-technical teams, you are solutions-focused and collaborative. You’re committed to upholding data security, operational resilience, and the overall integrity of the university’s digital environment.

You will possess:

  • A relevant undergraduate qualification and experience in cyber security governance, risk, and compliance, or equivalent expertise;
  • Knowledge of industry frameworks and standards such as ISO 27001, NIST CSF, and related regulatory requirements;
  • Experience conducting risk assessments and contributing to the development of risk registers and mitigation strategies;
  • Strong stakeholder engagement skills and the ability to communicate technical concepts to diverse audiences;
  • A sound understanding of IT security controls and compliance practices across digital environments; and
  • Excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to support multiple priorities and projects simultaneously.
