The Opportunity

Join our team as a Senior Financial Services Officer and drive seamless financial operations across the university! You'll provide expert guidance on financial processes, systems, and transactions while delivering accurate, reliable support that exceeds customer expectations. With a strong focus on collaboration and service excellence, you'll adopt a business partnering approach to develop solutions and enhance operational efficiency. You will

  • contribute to the coordination of all aspects of the University’s financial functions, ensuring the application of all relevant legislation and general professional accounting standards to fulfil the University’s legislative requirements;
  • participate in the preparation and presentation of the University's annual financial statements in accordance with Federal Financial Reporting Guidelines and relevant accounting standards and guidelines;
  • contribute to continuous improvement activities to manage data quality assurance reviews, contributing to the development of data cleansing methodologies ensuring integrity is maintained to a high standard and accurate, detailed, and reliable workpapers are available for audit governance; and
  • engage and work effectively with business areas internal and external to UniSC to maintain an effective integrated service model associated with financial governance and compliance.

About you

You're an excellent communicator, both verbally and in writing, with a strong ability to collaborate effectively within a team. Your dedication to delivering quality client service allows you to influence, negotiate, and engage confidently with stakeholders across the organisation. With sharp analytical and problem-solving skills, you excel at identifying solutions and driving efficiencies. Your exceptional organisational skills and keen attention to detail enable you to prioritise tasks, manage deadlines, and maintain accuracy in a dynamic, fast-paced environment.

You will possess:

  • Completion of a degree with subsequent relevant experience in an operational finance function within a large and complex organisation or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in a financial operations environment;
  • Strong knowledge and experience in financial functions in a large complex organisation, including the ability to contribute to the review and application of these functions;
  • Knowledge and understanding of accounting standards and legislation and the ability to interpret and apply the rules; and
  • Sound computer literacy and expertise and experience in the use of a Financial Management Information System and in the use of MS Office programs (advanced Excel skills) and accounting software.

Desirable:

  • Relevant experience in the higher education sector.
  • Previous experience with TechnologyOne, the University’s enterprise finance system.
