The Opportunity

Join our team at the University of the Sunshine Coast as the Manager of Library Collections and Access. In this key role, you will provide leadership in acquiring and managing library collections across various formats, ensuring compliance with university procurement policies and audit requirements. As a trusted advisor to the Director, you will offer insights on emerging technologies, standards, and technical matters related to acquisitions, licensing, and access to electronic and traditional resources. Leading important projects and continuous improvement initiatives, you will help enhance access to knowledge resources for our academic community.

You will

  • lead the acquisition and management of library resources, ensuring a rich and accessible collection;
  • oversee procurement, vendor partnerships, and license negotiations in line with university policies;
  • enhance Course Readings and Resource Sharing, balancing compliance with academic needs; and
  • guide collection management, from evaluating donations to refining resources for long-term sustainability.

With your expertise in library acquisitions and resource management, you’ll ensure our collections remain relevant, diverse, and easy to access. You thrive on building strong relationships, whether it's negotiating with vendors, guiding your team, or collaborating across the university. Managing budgets, evaluating services, and refining processes all come naturally to you, and you’re always on the lookout for smarter, more innovative ways to enhance library services. Most of all, you foster a positive, inclusive workplace where your team can grow, contribute, and make a real impact.

You will possess:

  • Strong understanding of consortia purchasing, acquisitions, and procurement for electronic and print resources.
  • Knowledge of licensing requirements in an academic setting.
  • Ability to think analytically and creatively, using data to drive informed decisions.
  • Experience leading teams through change, fostering a culture of collaboration, innovation, and high performance.
  • Skilled in report writing, tailoring messages for different stakeholders.
  • Awareness of the global publishing landscape and its impact on library collections.
  • Understanding of metadata standards and best practices in library management.
  • Excellent communication skills, with the ability to negotiate and build strategic partnerships.
