The Opportunity

Join UniSC as our Senior IT Vendor and Contracts Officer, where you'll lead the management of IT supplier engagements to ensure contracts and relationships deliver optimal value. You'll play a pivotal role in developing, reviewing, and implementing our IT contract and supplier management framework in collaboration with our Procurement team. This role involves direct oversight of strategic IT contracts, providing expert advice to our CIO and senior managers. You'll establish and maintain best-practice contract and supplier relationship management across our IT portfolio, ensuring coordination, compliance, and continuous improvement. Supporting our Manager, IT Business and Procurement Management (ITBPM), you'll drive stakeholder engagement across networking, end-user computing, licensing, enterprise applications, and infrastructure. Your proactive approach will manage risks, enhance cost-effectiveness, and fortify supplier relationships in alignment with UniSC's strategic goals.

You will

  • ensure effective vendor and contract management across IT, aligning with procurement policies;
  • manage IT contracts and software licences, ensuring compliance and value;
  • collaborate with Agreement Managers to strengthen vendor relationships and oversight; and
  • drive cost reductions, improved vendor performance, and continuous IT service improvement.

About you

Our ideal candidate is a strategic, proactive leader who excels in building strong vendor relationships and optimising IT contracts. You’ll manage enterprise solutions and key suppliers, ensuring cost efficiency, service quality, and risk mitigation. With your expertise, you’ll collaborate across teams, mentor others, and contribute to enhancing our supplier program. You’ll guide stakeholders, lead negotiations, and provide high-level advice to senior management to ensure UniSC thrives. You will possess:

  • Experience in vendor and contract management, including tender processes, negotiations, contract development, and compliance with policies and regulations.
  • Strong financial management skills, including contributing to annual forecasting and budgeting.
  • Proven success in managing vendor relationships, driving cost reductions, and mitigating risk, ideally within a university or similar environment.
  • Solid knowledge of the IT industry, procurement trends, and experience leading major procurement activities and supplier negotiations.
  • Expertise in developing, negotiating, and managing IT contracts, including amendments and service improvements.
  • Ability to consult with and influence stakeholders to achieve outcomes in complex environments, preferably within a university setting.
  • Excellent communication, reporting, and relationship management skills, with the ability to engage effectively with internal and external stakeholders.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, including active listening, diplomacy, confidentiality, and teamwork to build collaborative relationships.

Desirable:

  • Procurement qualifications (e.g., Level 3 procurement training, CIPSA accreditation).
  • Knowledge of university policies and state government procurement legislation, or the ability to quickly learn.
