The Opportunity

The Associate Clinical Educator in Prosthetics and Orthotics will make significant contributions to teaching and research within the Prosthetics and Orthotics program. You will teach, perform course coordination, and supervise students within undergraduate health programs, as well as contributing to and engaging in professional activities at UniSC.

You will:

  • be an effective teacher and make sound independent contributions to delivering teaching, learning and graduate outcomes;
  • support the facilitation of quality clinical education of students whilst on simulated, telehealth, external or internal placements;
  • demonstrate engagement within the University through participation in School activities that enhance the student experience; and
  • support the development of productive external links that benefit students, community and University. For example, they engage with industry to apply discipline knowledge and skills that benefit external stakeholders and students and can be involved in activities that encourage participation in university life through outreach activities.

About you:

We are seeking a clinical educator with strong subject matter and pedagogical expertise, excellent communication skills, and a passion for student-centered teaching. The ideal candidate will implement innovative teaching methods, create a positive learning environment, and design fair assessments to track student progress. You will provide quality clinical education of students in various forms: including simulated, telehealth, external and internal placements.

You will possess:

  1. A minimum of 5 years clinical experience as an accredited professional in the field of prosthetics and orthotics, along with a relevant qualification or equivalent accreditation and professional standing.
  2. Current membership or eligibility to the Australian Orthotic and Prosthetic Association (AOPA). 
  3. Effectiveness as a teacher, which is evidenced by:
  • the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to relevant areas of teaching.
  1. Membership of, and sound connections with relevant professional bodies, community groups and in professional practice.
