The Opportunity

The University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC) is seeking motivated and experienced Technicians to support its Respirator Fit Testing Program. Based in the Academic Support Unit, this role provides a high level of technical service to students preparing for placement in health and other disciplines. You will help maintain program efficiency and promote a positive, safety-focused team environment.

This is a casual role under the routine direction of the Team Leader, Safety and Fieldwork, with flexibility required around hours and the ability to travel between UniSC campuses.

 

You will

  • conduct respirator fit testing in line with Australian Standards AS/NZ 1715:2009 (half face, full face, and disposable masks);
  • coordinate and deliver services in accordance with UniSC policies, WHS guidelines, and relevant legislation;
  • troubleshoot and maintain Portacount fit testing equipment, consumables, and ensure quality control;
  • maintain secure and accurate records of testing;
  • communicate clearly and effectively with students and staff to coordinate appointments and rosters.

About you

You are a professional, energetic technician who thrives in fast-paced environments. You value safety, service excellence, and teamwork. With a proactive approach, you adapt quickly and work both independently and collaboratively to meet program goals.

 

You will possess:

  • Experience delivering respirator fit testing and/or in a relevant technical role
  • Training and competence in the operation of Portacount machines and performing quantitative face fit testing
  • Skills in fitting a range of respirator types and brands
  • The ability to troubleshoot and maintain equipment, consumables, and quality assurance processes
  • Strong communication, coordination, and record-keeping skills
  • A current driver’s licence
  • Availability to travel between campuses and work flexible hours
