The Opportunity

Join a team committed to creating welcoming, memorable experiences for our students from day one. As our Student Communications and Events Assistant, you’ll play a hands-on role in bringing Orientation and transition activities to life, supporting the delivery of clear, engaging communications and well-coordinated events that help students feel connected and confident. Guided by the Orientation Coordinator, you’ll contribute to a positive student experience through thoughtful organisation, collaboration and attention to detail. Beyond peak Orientation periods, you’ll work alongside the broader Student Communications team to deliver planned engagement initiatives, operating within established frameworks while contributing practical ideas to continually strengthen how we connect with our student community.

You will

  • help bring Orientation and transition experiences to life, creating welcoming, inclusive moments that set our students up for success from the start;
  • support the delivery of clear, timely and engaging communications that guide students through key milestones and strengthen their sense of connection and belonging; and
  • work collaboratively within established frameworks to deliver high-quality events and communications, contributing practical ideas that continually refine and elevate how we support our student community.

About you

Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives on bringing plans to life and takes genuine pride in creating experiences that help students feel welcome, informed and confident from day one. You’re organised and calm under pressure, especially during busy peak periods, and your attention to detail means nothing slips through the cracks. You enjoy working behind the scenes to make events and communications run seamlessly, while building positive relationships with colleagues and partners along the way. With a practical mindset and a collaborative spirit, you’re motivated by continuous improvement and excited by the opportunity to shape moments that truly matter in a student’s journey.

You will possess:

  • Experience supporting the delivery of events or engagement activities, confidently managing logistics, schedules and competing priorities, ideally within an education, community or service-focused setting.
  • Strong written communication skills, with the ability to craft and distribute clear, accurate and audience-focused content across a range of channels.
  • Excellent organisational and time-management skills, enabling you to stay composed and detail-focused during busy peak periods while meeting deadlines.
  • A collaborative approach, building positive working relationships with a diverse range of internal and external stakeholders.
  • The ability to work within established policies, procedures and brand guidelines, with a genuine appreciation for accuracy, accessibility and compliance in communications and events.
  • Initiative and sound problem-solving skills, knowing when to resolve issues independently, when to escalate, and how to contribute ideas that strengthen our approach.
  • A commitment to inclusive, respectful and ethical workplace practices, contributing to a culturally capable and safe environment for colleagues, partners and students alike.
