The Opportunity

Lead a dynamic team supporting teaching, learning, and research at UniSC campuses. As a senior member of the Nursing and Midwifery Technical Operations team, you’ll coordinate the delivery of high-quality services, resources, and activities that enhance the student experience and academic excellence.

In this leadership role, you’ll supervise a skilled team of technicians, oversee daily operations, manage rosters, and ensure smooth, compliant technical support across campuses. Acting as the deputy to the Team Leader, you’ll also step into leadership responsibilities when required, making this a great opportunity for someone ready to take the next step in their career.

Please note: This position will support operations across our southern campuses. The base location for this position is our Moreton Bay Campuses  (Petrie and Caboolture) with 1 day a week required at our UniSC Sunshine Coast Campus (Sippy Downs). 

You will

  • Provide technical leadership and specialist support to ensure the effective delivery and administration of practical programs, enhancing scholarly practice and student learning outcomes across Nursing and Midwifery schools and campuses;
  • Act as second in charge to the Team Leader (Nursing and Midwifery), to support the effective management of staff, facilities, and resources to ensure safe and efficient delivery of practical sessions through expert technical support, administration, and safety practices such as risk assessments and equipment maintenance;
  • Develop and implement operational strategies to meet staffing requirements across allocated sites, ensuring budget compliance and provide regular performance updates to the Team Leader (Nursing and Midwifery);
  • Plan, troubleshoot, and support the delivery of immersive simulation activities across allocated sites, ensuring high-quality clinical learning experiences; and
  • Conduct recruitment, onboarding, and mentoring of new or less experienced team members across relevant sites to ensure a well-supported and capable technical team.

About you

Your excellent communication skills allow you to engage effectively with stakeholders, negotiate service-level outcomes, and foster strong collaboration across teams. Committed to delivering outstanding client service, you lead with purpose, driving continuous improvement, guiding professional development, and ensuring your team is well-supported through tailored onboarding, training, and regular performance feedback.

You will possess:

  • Current registration with APHRA as a registered nurse (Postgraduate qualifications desirable), with at least four years’ of demonstrated experience in the provision of a broad range of activities in support of undergraduate teaching in the assigned discipline/s.  Alternatively, extensive experience (greater than 5 years) of direct operations within the assigned discipline may be considered acceptable;
  • Leadership experience in managing a support function pertaining to the technical areas of Nursing and Midwifery programs;
  • Technical expertise with respect to the technical systems that are utilised within the scope of the Nursing and Midwifery;
  • Knowledge and commitment to effect workplace health, safety and wellbeing strategies to a technical environment including overseeing implementation and auditing;
  • Experience in change management and mentoring of a team of technical professionals including the ability to establish priorities and manage competing deadlines.
