The Opportunity

Join our dynamic team as a Procurement Officer, where you'll play a key role in managing and delivering efficient procurement activities across the University. In this hands-on role, you’ll work closely with the Financial Services and Corporate Services teams to streamline procurement operations, enhance systems and processes, and ensure compliance with policy and financial best practice. You will

  • Provide support in developing, maintaining and reviewing procurement systems and practices to ensure delivered within best practice environment;
  • Administer the University’s operational procurement functions to ensure the integrity and efficient provision of the framework within all relevant legislation, policies and guidelines; and
  • Provide guidance across the university community on procurement related matters including provision of related training.

About you

You're a confident and articulate communicator who thrives in customer-focused environments. With strong verbal and written skills, you navigate negotiations with ease to deliver practical business outcomes. A natural team player, you excel at juggling competing priorities, meeting tight deadlines, and contributing to a high-performing, solutions-driven team culture.

You will possess:

  • Education, training and/or relevant experience equivalent to an associate diploma with relevant work experience or a relevant degree;
  • Experience providing accurate advice about procurement and financial operation functions and procedures in a medium-sized organisation;
  • The ability to interpret and apply State Purchasing Policy or equivalent;
  • Experience in the development, implementation and review of procurement and financial operation systems, policies and procedures; and
  • High level experience using accounting software and evidence of advanced Microsoft Excel skills.

Desirable:

  • Relevant experience in the higher education sector and knowledge of local government legislative, tendering and procurement practices.
  • Membership of industry body relevant to the position (eg CIPS, CPA).
  • Previous experience with Technology One CiA and the development and maintenance of webpages.
