The Opportunity

Join UniSC’s Information Technology team and play a pivotal role in architecting secure, scalable and innovative solutions that enable the University’s strategic ambitions. As a Senior Solution Architect, you will partner across academic, research and professional areas to design integrated, future-focused solutions that uplift capability, modernise platforms and enhance the digital experience for staff and students.

This role sits within Engagement & Transformation Services, a client-focused division responsible for enterprise and solution architecture, business analysis, program delivery and strategic innovation. Working alongside expert architects, analysts and project specialists, you will contribute to shaping UniSC’s technology ecosystem, supporting transformation efforts, and helping position UniSC as Australia’s premier regional university.

You will

  • design secure, scalable and integrated solutions, producing high-quality architecture artefacts that align with UniSC’s enterprise standards and meet cybersecurity, privacy and compliance requirements;
  • engage with business and technical stakeholders to translate needs into well-defined requirements and solution options that optimise processes and enhance the overall user experience;
  • provide technical leadership throughout the solution lifecycle, guiding implementation teams, assessing risks and dependencies, and supporting effective planning and delivery; and
  • mentor and develop capability across architecture and technical teams, fostering a collaborative, inclusive and professionally aligned work environment.

About you

You are an experienced solution architect who thrives in complex, multi-system environments and enjoys partnering with stakeholders to shape meaningful, well-governed technological change. With strong analytical skills, deep technical knowledge and a collaborative mindset, you bring clarity to complexity and design solutions that are robust, future-focused and strategically aligned.

You communicate with confidence, influence decisions effectively and provide leadership across both design and delivery. You stay current with emerging technology trends and enjoy mentoring others to uplift capability and drive continuous improvement.

You will possess:

  • Tertiary qualifications in Information Technology or a related field, with substantial experience in solution architecture within complex or higher-education environments;
  • Strong capability in architecting and delivering solutions using Microsoft technologies across hybrid cloud and on-premise environments;
  • Deep understanding of application and integration architecture, including APIs, middleware, data management and modern development patterns;
  • Proven experience in requirements analysis, technical solution design and the production of high-quality technical documentation and architecture artefacts;
  • Sound knowledge of cybersecurity, privacy, compliance and relevant Australian legislative requirements for digital service delivery; and
  • Highly developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to influence decisions, guide teams and support effective planning and delivery.
