The Opportunity

The Insights and Analytics Unit (IAU) at the University of the Sunshine Coast is responsible for leveraging data and information as essential strategic assets. The unit provides core data and analytics services, institutional performance analysis, data governance, knowledge management, load planning, forecasting, student surveys, business intelligence, and support for the University’s data strategies. By collecting, managing, and analysing data, the IAU delivers insights that inform strategic decision-making, enhance student outcomes, and drive organisational performance.

As an Insights Analyst, you will play a pivotal role in turning complex data into actionable insights that support evidence-based decision-making across the University. You will analyse student performance, enrolment trends, and key performance indicators, provide clear and compelling visualisations, and undertake institutional research projects to inform strategic planning and policy development. This role offers the opportunity to collaborate with stakeholders across all levels of the University and contribute to innovative solutions that enhance institutional performance and strategic outcomes.

You will

  • analyse and report on student performance, enrolment trends, and other key performance indicators to support evidence-based decision-making;
  • develop data visualisations, reports, and institutional research insights that inform strategic planning and policy development; and
  • collaborate with stakeholders across the University to provide actionable insights and support organisational priorities.

About you

You are an analytical thinker who can transform complex data into actionable insights. You thrive in a collaborative environment, balancing multiple projects while maintaining a high standard of accuracy and reliability. You are experienced in using data visualisation and reporting tools, and you can communicate effectively with both technical and non-technical audiences.

You will possess:

  • A degree and extensive experience in data analysis, business intelligence, or a related field, or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge and experience;
  • Proven expertise in providing actionable insights, interpreting organisational objectives, and delivering clear, context-driven reports;
  • Strong experience in data governance, validation, and quality assurance practices;
  • Excellent problem-solving skills, creativity, and the ability to adapt in a rapidly changing environment;
  • High proficiency with analytical and reporting tools such as Excel and Power BI; and
  • Exceptional organisational, communication, and stakeholder engagement skills.
