The Opportunity

This future-focused role offers an exciting opportunity for a self-motivated and education-driven academic who excels in learning and teaching, curriculum innovation, and academic leadership. Passionate about reimagining accounting education, you will help modernise curriculum design and empower high-performing teams to shape a future-ready accounting program that inspires students and transforms learning experiences.

As Program Coordinator, Bachelor of Commerce, you will play a pivotal role in aligning the program with UniSC’s PACE model, Curriculum Design Framework, and its vision for transformative education. You’ll lead curriculum renewal and accreditation processes, champion innovative and inclusive teaching practices, including AI-enabled and place-based learning, and foster co-creation with First Nations Peoples. Through your leadership, you will cultivate a collaborative and high-impact academic environment, strengthening UniSC’s reputation for five-star teaching quality and ensuring our graduates are equipped to thrive in the evolving world of business and commerce.

You will:

  • Deliver high-quality teaching – design, deliver and continuously improve curricula, use innovative teaching technologies, and support student success.
  • Engage in scholarly research – develop a focused research agenda, secure grants, publish findings, and supervise Higher Degree by Research students.
  • Foster partnerships and engagement – build and maintain regional, national and international collaborations that enhance teaching, research and impact.
  • Contribute to the University community – participate in internal committees and initiatives, promoting an inclusive, respectful and positive academic culture.
  • Adapt and evolve professionally – undertake other duties aligned with changing teaching, research and professional priorities within the University.

About you:

You are an accomplished and forward-thinking educator with a proven record of excellence in learning and teaching. You consistently receive high-quality feedback from students and peers and bring deep expertise in designing, developing and delivering engaging, inclusive, and future-ready accounting curricula. With experience in creating impactful first-year undergraduate and online/asynchronous learning experiences, you embrace innovative pedagogical approaches such as technology-enhanced, AI-enabled, and gamified learning. Recognised through institutional, national or international teaching awards, you are also an effective curriculum leader, skilled at designing student-centred, standards-based programs and leading curriculum renewal and assurance of learning initiatives. You ensure alignment with accreditation standards (AACSB, CPA/CAANZ, EQUIS), drive continuous improvement through program reviews and benchmarking, and mentor colleagues to strengthen teaching excellence. Committed to ongoing professional development, you continually enhance your pedagogical and leadership capabilities to foster outstanding learning experiences and student success.

You will possess:

  • Completion of a doctoral qualification in Accounting, Accounting Education or a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing;
  • Advanced assessment literacy, demonstrated through leadership in the design, implementation and evaluation of structurally aligned and standards-based assessment systems that are valid, reliable, transparent, inclusive, authentic;
  • Established scholarship of learning and teaching record, demonstrated through peer-reviewed publications, conference presentations, leadership of pedagogical projects, or successful teaching-related grants and fellowships;
  • A strong understanding of AI-enabled learning strategies and demonstrated capacity to design, develop and promote curriculum design to support students’ development of AI competencies by students, and fellow educators;
  • Proven academic administration experience, such as program coordination or leadership of learning and teaching initiatives, with evidence of measurable impact on quality, outcomes and continuous improvement;
  • Engagement with professional communities, including membership of relevant professional bodies (e.g., CPA Australia, CA ANZ) and contribution to national or international networks focused on accounting education; and
  • Educational leadership and collegial influence, with personal qualities that influence the development and maintenance of a positive academic environment which is conducive to high levels of engagement and standards of achievement for both staff and students.

Desirable

  • Postgraduate qualifications in higher education, or fellowship of AdvanceHE.
  • Experience with AACSB International accreditation, including Assurance of Learning.
  • Experience working with accounting software such as Xero and/or MYOB.
  • Professional accreditation as a Charted Accountant.
