The School of Science, Technology, and Engineering (SSTE) is a leader in addressing global challenges through STEM education, equipping students with the skills to develop innovative, sustainable solutions. Our Engineering Discipline is a growing hub of research and teaching excellence, with strengths in sustainable building, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, and more. Collaborating with the ARM-Hub and industry partners like Veolia and SMEC, we bridge academic and practical expertise. UniSC ranks above the national average for student experience, with 86% of our engineering graduates securing full-time employment (QILT Survey 2021). We are expanding programs, including new offerings at our Moreton Bay Campus, and exploring postgraduate qualifications to meet future needs.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Lecturer (Level B) in Cyber Security to join the Technology Discipline within the School of Science, Technology and Engineering. In this role, you will deliver high-quality teaching in undergraduate and postgraduate courses, contribute to impactful research, and supervise honours and higher degree by research candidates. You will complement existing strengths in cryptocurrency and cybercrime investigations, human factors/design science, and smart industry design (including AI, IoT, cloud, security, and networking), while building meaningful industry and community partnerships.

This is an exciting opportunity for a passionate cyber security academic to innovate in teaching, advance research, and collaborate across disciplines. You will:

  • deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences in cyber security, supporting student success and engagement;
  • conduct impactful research, supervise honours and HDR students, and contribute to grant applications and publications; and
  • engage with the University, industry, and community to build partnerships, support governance, and enhance the student experience.

About you:

You are an experienced cyber security professional or academic with a passion for innovative, student-centred teaching and learning. You excel at creating engaging learning experiences, adapting to diverse student needs, and staying current with emerging trends in cyber security and technology. You are motivated to build a strong research profile, contribute to collaborative projects, and foster industry and community partnerships. With excellent communication and interpersonal skills, you thrive in a collegial environment and are committed to continuous professional growth.

You will possess:

  • completion or near-completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing;
  • proven track record as an effective teacher, with the capacity to conceive, develop, and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to relevant areas of teaching;
  • sound and established track record of research activity commensurate with the level of the position;
  • membership of, and sound connections with, relevant professional bodies and community groups and/or in professional practice; and
  • evidence of participation in academic development activities and a desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic.

Desirable

  • experience undertaking academic administrative functions, e.g. course coordination, within a University.
