The Opportunity

Play a key role in keeping the University’s financial operations running smoothly by delivering expert support across accounts payable, accounts receivable and related financial transactions. In this role, you’ll provide accurate, reliable advice that meets service delivery standards and supports positive customer experiences, with opportunities to contribute to travel management services as required. Working collaboratively with stakeholders across the University, you’ll adopt a strong business-partnering approach, promote a customer-focused team culture, and help deliver practical solutions that support organisational goals.

You will

  • contribute to the coordination of the University’s operational finance functions to ensure the integrity of accounting and efficient provision of services, with a particular focus on accounts payable and accounts receivable services;
  • coordinate and manage the activities and processes around payment of the university’s creditors to ensure timely payment within policy and payment terms;
  • provide technical leadership and guidance on the financial management of programs, processes and systems, particularly on complex matters requiring specialist knowledge or implementation advice; and
  • work effectively with business areas internal and external to UniSC to maintain an effective integrated service model associated with the accounts payable, accounts receivable and when necessary travel functions.

You are a confident and effective communicator with a strong ability to collaborate and build positive working relationships. Committed to delivering high-quality client service, you engage, influence and negotiate with stakeholders across the organisation. With strong analytical and problem-solving skills, you identify practical solutions and drive efficiencies, while your excellent organisation and attention to detail enable you to manage priorities, meet deadlines and maintain accuracy in a fast-paced environment.

You will possess:

  • Completion of a degree with subsequent relevant experience in an accounts payable and receivable function within a large and complex organisation or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training in a financial operations environment;
  • Strong knowledge and experience in the accounts payable and accounts receivable functions in a large complex organisation, including the ability to contribute to the review, application and implementation of these functions;
  • Knowledge and understanding of FBT and GST taxation legislation and the ability to interpret and apply the rules; and
  • Sound computer literacy and expertise and experience in the use of a Financial Management Information System and in the use of MS Office programs (advanced excel skills) and accounting software. 

Desirable:

  • Relevant experience in the higher education sector.
  • Previous experience with University enterprise systems particularly:
    • Finance - Technology One CiA
    • Receipting – Xetta
    • Accounts Payable Automation software
