The Opportunity

Are you ready to support a safe, welcoming, and vibrant university community? As our Security Systems Officer - Physical Security, you’ll play a key role in maintaining and optimising UniSC’s physical security systems across all campuses.

In this hands-on role, you will work closely with the Coordinator, Security to ensure the reliable performance of UniSC’s Gallagher access control, Avigilon CCTV, and associated physical security technologies. You will coordinate maintenance contractors, oversee hard key management, and support campus users through training and operational guidance.

You will

  • maintain and administer UniSC’s Gallagher access control, Avigilon CCTV, and related physical security systems to ensure consistent and reliable operation;
  • coordinate hard key management, contractor performance, and scheduled maintenance to support high-quality service delivery and compliance; and
  • deliver training and operational support to system users, contributing to a culture of safety, awareness, and continuous improvement.

About you

You are a practical, solutions-focused professional with experience working on physical security systems in operational environments. You have strong attention to detail, can confidently troubleshoot system issues, and enjoy working collaboratively with security staff, contractors, and campus stakeholders.

You will possess:

  • relevant qualifications or an equivalent combination of experience and training in electronic security systems or physical security infrastructure;
  • demonstrated hands-on experience with Gallagher access control and Avigilon CCTV systems, or comparable platforms;
  • experience with hard key management, physical security hardware, and an understanding of CPTED principles;
  • strong problem-solving skills with the ability to optimise system performance and support campus security operations;
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to support and train internal users; and
  • an understanding of privacy, data protection, and physical security compliance within public or higher-education environments.

Desirable:

  • current Security Licence (Class 2 or equivalent) and/or Certificate III in Security Operations; and
  • current Advanced First Aid, CPR and AED certification.
