The Opportunity

The Quality Assurance Advisor plays an important role within Governance and Risk Management, partnering across the University to support quality, compliance, and continuous improvement initiatives. Reporting to the Senior Manager, Quality Assurance and Academic Governance, you will provide expert advice and practical guidance to ensure alignment with the Higher Education Standards Framework (HESF) and the TEQSA Act. Working closely with a diverse range of stakeholders, you will help translate complex regulatory requirements into clear, practical solutions that strengthen governance, enhance quality outcomes, and support a culture of excellence across the University.

You will

  • Provide advice and support to all areas of the University regarding the requirements of the Higher Education Standards Framework (HESF) and TEQSA;
  • Contribute to the development, implementation and monitoring of quality assurance and improvement activities across the University;
  • Proactively promote a culture of continuous improvement through the identification and dissemination of best practice; and
  • Actively contribute to the objectives of the Quality Team and the wider Governance and Risk Management Team.

About you

You bring a strong understanding of governance, quality assurance, and operational practices within a complex or highly regulated environment, with the ability to interpret and apply legislation, policy, and compliance frameworks in a practical and solutions-focused manner. Highly organised and proactive, you excel at managing competing priorities, exercising sound judgement, and handling sensitive matters with discretion and professionalism. As a confident communicator and collaborative team member, you build effective relationships across diverse stakeholder groups and engage confidently with colleagues at all organisational levels.

You will possess:

  • Completion of a relevant degree and extensive experience, or an equivalent combination of relevant knowledge, training and experience, in whole of organisation quality development within a higher education setting, or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;
  • Extensive knowledge of current government and related frameworks for higher education quality, standards, and qualifications; related legislation (including the Australian Qualifications Framework, TEQSA Act 2011 and HESF);
  • Knowledge of university governance, management, and operations (or a similarly regulated environment), including decision-making processes, policy, planning, compliance, accountability, records management and quality, and the ability to appreciate the relationships between legislation, plans, policies, decisions, and activities;
  • The ability to interpret legislation, regulations, policies, and other information and communicating complex regulatory requirements and their application to diverse stakeholders; and
  • Capability to research, identify, analyse, and adapt best practice approaches to quality improvement and assurance activities.
