The Opportunity

We are seeking a Maintenance Services Manager to lead the delivery of UniSC’s maintenance, compliance, and asset performance functions across all campuses. In this senior operational role, you will drive proactive, risk-based maintenance planning, ensure statutory compliance, and develop lifecycle strategies that support the safety, sustainability, and long-term performance of UniSC’s campus environments.

You will provide expert technical guidance to University management, lead multidisciplinary maintenance teams, oversee key service contracts, and contribute to strategic asset and infrastructure planning. This is a pivotal leadership position ideal for an experienced professional with a strong background in facilities management, maintenance operations, engineering, or construction within a large and complex environment.

You will

  • lead the effective operation, maintenance, and statutory compliance of UniSC’s building systems and infrastructure across all campuses;
  • manage planned and reactive maintenance programs that optimise asset performance, service reliability, and sustainability outcomes;
  • oversee procurement processes, contract development, and supplier performance for key maintenance and technical services; and
  • collaborate with stakeholders to deliver safe, efficient, and high-quality campus environments aligned with UniSC’s strategic objectives.

About you

Our ideal candidate brings extensive experience in facilities management, building maintenance, or operational asset management, supported by strong leadership capability and a commitment to service excellence. You will have a proven ability to lead multi-site operations, deliver compliant and effective maintenance services, manage contractors and service providers, and support evidence-based decision-making through sound financial and performance management.

Your technical expertise, strong communication skills, and commitment to sustainability and safe work practices will be central to shaping UniSC’s campus operations.

You will possess:

  • relevant tertiary qualifications and/or extensive experience in facilities management, maintenance, engineering, or construction, preferably within a large or complex organisation;
  • demonstrated experience managing multi-site maintenance operations with strong risk, safety, and compliance capabilities;
  • expertise in building systems, Australian Standards, statutory obligations, and lifecycle asset management practices;
  • experience in procurement strategy, contract negotiation, and management of performance-based service providers;
  • proficiency in asset management systems, CAFM tools, and digital reporting platforms;
  • excellent interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to influence, collaborate, and build effective relationships;
  • strong understanding of sustainability, energy efficiency, and contemporary asset management principles; and
  • advanced capability in maintenance planning, scheduling, performance reporting, and data-driven decision-making.

Desirable

  • experience in a university or similar multi-campus environment; and
  • demonstrated ability to lead teams and deliver high-quality outcomes within complex operational settings.
