The Opportunity

Join UniSC’s dynamic Nutrition and Dietetics team and play a key role in shaping the next generation of nutrition professionals. Through high-quality, student-centred teaching, meaningful research, and active community engagement, you’ll deliver inspiring learning experiences across the Bachelor of Dietetics (Honours) and Bachelor of Nutrition programs. Working collaboratively with academic colleagues and industry partners, you’ll contribute to innovative practice and support UniSC’s commitment to excellence in health education. This role is based at our beautiful Sippy Downs campus on the Sunshine Coast.

About you:

You are a passionate educator in nutrition and dietetics who cultivates inclusive, engaging learning environments that empower students to thrive. Drawing on your subject expertise, exceptional communication skills, and collaborative approach, you design transformative learning experiences that inspire curiosity and build confidence. Actively contributing to research and professional practice, you foster strong partnerships with industry and the community. Collegial and dedicated to continuous improvement, you help shape a positive, high-performing academic culture that supports the success of both students and colleagues.

You will possess:

  • Completion or near-completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing;
  • Accredited Practising Dietitian as recognised by Dietitians Australia;
  • Effectiveness as a teacher, which is evidenced by:
    • student feedback on teaching using valid instrument/s, peer review and/or student outcomes, and
    • the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to relevant areas of teaching.
  • Evidence of research experience, including for example, refereed publications; participation in research teams; co-supervision of candidates for honours and higher degrees by research;
  • Membership of and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups and/or in professional practice;
  • Strong personal qualities and collegial approaches that contribute to the development and maintenance of a positive academic environment which is conducive to high levels of engagement and standards of achievement for both staff and students; and
  • Evidence of participation in academic development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic.

Desirable

  • Experience undertaking academic administrative functions, e.g. course coordination, within a University.
