The Opportunity

UniSC Clinical Trials is seeking a detail‑driven and collaborative casual Finance Officer to support the financial operations of our expanding clinical trials portfolio. Reporting to the Senior Operations Accountant, UniSC Clinical Trials, this role is central to ensuring the accurate and timely financial processing that underpins high‑quality clinical research.

You will be responsible for the day‑to‑day transactional financial activities across multiple research studies, including invoicing, participant payments, and financial data management within the Clinical Trial Management System (CTMS). Your work will directly support research delivery, compliance, and a positive experience for both sponsors and trial participants.

You will

  • Process clinical trial invoices for start‑up activities, milestones, per‑patient visits, and administrative fees in line with Clinical Trial Research Agreements and amendments;
  • Maintain accurate financial records through daily data entry and quality control of patient visits in the CTMS;
  • Process participant stipends and travel reimbursements accurately and within agreed timeframes;
  • Liaise with UniSC Financial Services and TechOne to apply, reconcile, and monitor payments against invoices and study activity;
  • Support accounts payable processes, including invoice preparation, tracking, and follow‑up to ensure timely payment; and
  • Contribute to strong financial governance, compliance, and continuous improvement across clinical trial finance processes.

About you

You are organised, methodical, and confident working with financial data in a fast‑paced environment. You take pride in accuracy and enjoy working with systems, processes, and stakeholders to keep things running smoothly. You communicate clearly, manage competing priorities well, and understand the importance of compliance and confidentiality in a research setting.

You will possess:

  • A diploma qualification in Accounting, Business, or Finance, or an equivalent combination of education, training, and relevant experience;
  • A solid understanding of accounts payable and receivable processes, including reconciliation;
  • Strong Microsoft Excel skills, including formulas, data analysis, and reporting;
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills, with a strong customer service focus;
  • High attention to detail and the ability to process high volumes of transactions accurately and to deadline;
  • The ability to work both independently and collaboratively in a deadline‑driven environment; and
  • A demonstrated commitment to accuracy, compliance, and continuous improvement.
