The Opportunity

Data and information are critical strategic assets at the University of the Sunshine Coast (UniSC). The Insights & Analytics Unit (IAU) plays a key role in enabling evidence-based decision-making, institutional analytics, and contemporary information management practices across the University.

We are seeking an experienced Business Intelligence Analyst (Casual) to contribute to the modernisation, uplift, and ongoing enhancement of UniSC’s Business Intelligence services. Reporting to the Manager, Business Intelligence, this role will apply specialist expertise in data visualisation, reporting, and analytics to design and deliver high-quality dashboards and reports that support a broad range of university stakeholders.

Working collaboratively with clients, subject matter experts, and technical teams, you will contribute to innovative analytics solutions, support data quality initiatives, and help strengthen UniSC’s enterprise reporting and analytics capability.

You will

  • design, develop, and maintain high-quality, user-focused dashboards, reports, and analytics solutions to support data-driven decision-making across the University;
  • engage proactively with stakeholders to gather requirements, provide expert advice, and deliver tailored business intelligence solutions that meet operational and strategic needs;
  • utilise technical expertise in business intelligence platforms and data practices, including Power BI, SQL, data modelling, metadata management, and data quality initiatives; and
  • contribute to the modernisation and continuous improvement of UniSC’s analytics and information management practices, including capability uplift, reporting optimisation, and emerging analytics initiatives.

About you

You are an experienced business intelligence and analytics professional who enjoys solving complex problems and delivering user-focused reporting solutions. You bring strong technical expertise, a collaborative mindset, and the ability to communicate effectively with diverse stakeholders across a large and complex organisation.

You will possess:

  • postgraduate qualifications (or progress towards) with extensive relevant experience in a related field; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;
  • demonstrated expertise in designing and delivering effective, visually engaging dashboards and reports that meet user and organisational needs;
  • advanced proficiency in Microsoft Power BI, SQL, and associated analytics and reporting tools;
  • experience applying innovative approaches to solve complex business or reporting requirements;
  • strong stakeholder engagement and communication skills, including the ability to gather requirements, deliver training, and collaborate effectively with diverse audiences;
  • knowledge of data modelling, metadata management, and data quality practices within a complex environment; and
  • excellent organisational and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively.
