The Opportunity

You’ll play a senior, hands-on role in coordinating and delivering impactful mental health research within the National PTSD Research Centre. Working alongside multidisciplinary research teams, clinicians, and investigators, you will help drive high-quality clinical studies that prioritise participant safety, data integrity, and trauma-informed care. This is a unique opportunity to combine advanced nursing expertise with clinical research leadership in a purpose-driven environment dedicated to improving outcomes for people living with trauma-related mental health conditions.

  • Take a leadership role in the clinical coordination and administration of mental health and neuro-science research by providing nursing and clinical research expertise as part of the research team conducting clinical trials at the PTSD Clinic in the National PTSD Research Centre.
  • Provide information, support and encouragement to study participants and assist in undertaking physical and psychological assessments for a range of research projects.

About you

You are a registered nurse with strong mental health experience and a genuine commitment to trauma-informed care. You bring confidence, empathy, and clinical judgement to complex research environments, and you are comfortable balancing participant care with rigorous research protocols.

You enjoy working collaboratively across disciplines, take pride in high-quality documentation and compliance, and are motivated by research that delivers real-world impact. Your calm, organised approach helps studies run smoothly and ensures participants feel supported throughout their research journey.

You will possess:

  • Completion of a degree in nursing and current unrestricted nursing registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA) combined with experience in working in a mental health setting;
  • The ability to manage clients in an outpatient setting, exercise sound judgement, and make appropriate referrals in consultation with medical staff as required;
