The Opportunity

The Administrative Officer, Scholarships is responsible for overseeing the administration of student services, with a primary focus on scholarships, bursaries, and prizes. This role requires a strong emphasis on customer service, as it involves providing friendly, accurate, and timely advice to both prospective and current students, as well as university staff, on a daily basis. The officer ensures that all aspects of scholarship management are handled efficiently and effectively, supporting students in accessing financial aid opportunities throughout their academic journey.

You will

  • effective management of student matters received via phone, email and face to face inquiries;
  • proactive referral of students to relevant specialist staff and follow up if required; and
  • establish and maintain effective relationships with students, staff and clients through professional communications and efficient use of electronic records systems.

About you

Your excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, ensure you are able to respond to customer inquiries with clarity, empathy, and professionalism. You effectively convey information and build rapport, creating positive interactions and strong relationships with customers. Your skilled at tailoring your communication style to meet the needs of different individuals and situations, ensuring each customer feels heard and understood. Additionally, you are a collaborative team member, facilitating seamless communication within the team and across departments to support shared goals.

You will possess:

  • completion of a relevant degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and education/training;
  • an ability to interpret and follow University policy in regard to scholarships, bursaries and prizes, including Australian Government policy and guidelines relating to Commonwealth Scholarships; and
  • experience in and a commitment to, the provision of quality customer service, including a high level of interpersonal and organisational skills.
