The Opportunity

Join UniSC and play an important role in delivering high-quality, hands-on laboratory experiences that support student learning and success. You will work closely with academic staff to prepare materials, set up and maintain teaching laboratories, and provide technical support across a range of undergraduate programs, including the Medical Laboratory Science (Pathology) program.

Drawing on your technical expertise, you will assist with method development, support the implementation of new techniques, and ensure laboratories are safe, compliant, and well-equipped. Your contribution will help create an engaging and effective learning environment across diverse areas such as pathology, blood banking, histology, and broader laboratory sciences.

You will

  • prepare, set up, and maintain teaching laboratories and equipment to support practical classes;
  • provide technical support across laboratory-based teaching programs, including pathology-related disciplines;
  • contribute to method development, troubleshooting, and implementation of new laboratory techniques; and
  • ensure laboratories and associated facilities are safe, compliant, and well-resourced.

About you

You are a highly organised and collaborative professional with strong technical capability and a proactive approach to problem-solving. You communicate effectively with a wide range of stakeholders and enjoy working in a dynamic academic environment. With a strong focus on safety, quality, and continuous improvement, you contribute to a positive, inclusive, and well-functioning workplace.

You will possess:

  • Completion of a relevant degree, or a combination of relevant experience and education/training;
  • Previous experience providing technical support in laboratory environments, ideally within pathology, teaching, or research settings, including preparing reagents, operating laboratory equipment, and performing routine procedures;
  • Working knowledge of WHS requirements, laboratory safety practices, and chemical and biological handling, including waste and risk management
  • Strong organisational, communication, and problem-solving skills; and
  • A current Class C Driver’s Licence.
