The Opportunity

Join the Buranga Centre and make a real impact on Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student success. In this role, you’ll provide tailored advice, support, and engagement to students across campuses, working closely with Schools and Student Services to enhance the student experience. You’ll monitor student progress, address operational objectives, and contribute to positive academic outcomes, helping create a supportive and empowering environment where students can thrive.

You will

  • To enhance students' success via the provision of quality, highly developed student services that improve the student experience;
  • To engage students in university life through activities and advice that enhance their well-being; and
  • To provide local advice and assistance to improve learning outcomes for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students.

About you

You are an experienced professional with a track record supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students throughout their academic journey. You communicate confidently, build positive relationships, and work effectively both independently and as part of a team. Highly organised, you can prioritise tasks, meet deadlines, and maintain confidentiality while using initiative and sound judgment. You are passionate about developing and delivering initiatives that empower Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students to succeed and thrive in their educational endeavours.

You will possess:

  • Completion of a degree or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education / training;
  • Extensive experience working with Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students supporting their academic journey across the university;
  • Demonstrated ability to work collaboratively within the Buranga Centre and promote its services as a key support for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander student success across the University;
  • Demonstrated ability to support the development and delivery of activities and initiatives that empower Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander people to succeed in their educational endeavours; and
  • An understanding of the Australian Higher Education sector.
