The Opportunity

We are seeking an enthusiastic and skilled Technician (Physiotherapy – Allied Health) to join the Academic Support Unit (ASU). This exciting role provides technical support for undergraduate practical teaching within Physiotherapy and other Allied Health programs. You will help create safe, well-equipped and high-quality practical learning environments by preparing teaching spaces, maintaining equipment and resources, and supporting staff and students in the delivery of practical learning activities.

You will work closely with academic staff and technical colleagues to ensure facilities, clinical teaching spaces, and equipment are safe, operational, and aligned to teaching requirements, while contributing to continuous improvement, compliance, and exceptional student learning experiences.

You will

  • prepare, set up, and pack down practical classes, assessment activities, and clinical teaching spaces, ensuring resources, equipment, and facilities meet teaching and operational requirements;
  • maintain equipment, facilities, and resources including cleaning, calibration, stock control, safe storage, ordering, and routine maintenance to support safe and effective learning environments; and
  • provide technical support, inductions, and practical guidance to staff and students while contributing to WHS compliance, risk management, and continuous improvement across Physiotherapy and Allied Health teaching spaces.

About you

You are a proactive, organised, and hands-on professional who thrives in practical learning environments and enjoys supporting high-quality teaching and student outcomes. You bring strong technical capability, sound judgement, and a commitment to maintaining safe, well-resourced teaching spaces. You work effectively both independently and collaboratively, communicate confidently with a broad range of stakeholders, and take pride in delivering high standards of operational support, safety, and continuous improvement.

You will possess:

  • a relevant degree in Physiotherapy, Allied Health, or a related health discipline, or an equivalent combination of relevant education, training, and practical experience;
  • experience providing technical, practical, or operational support within allied health, clinical, tertiary, or related environments;
  • strong organisational, problem-solving, and time management skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities effectively;
  • sound knowledge of workplace health and safety practices, including risk assessments, hygiene protocols, and safe operating procedures;
  • effective communication and interpersonal skills, including proficiency in MS Office Suite, Teams, and other relevant systems; and
  • current Class ‘C’ driver’s licence.

Desirable:

  • experience supporting Physiotherapy, simulation, or broader Allied Health teaching environments; and
  • experience contributing to operational procedures, documentation, or continuous improvement initiatives.
