The Opportunity

Join our passionate team at UniSC Moreton Bay and help shape the future of Social Work and Human Services! In this impactful role, you’ll develop engaging curriculum, deliver high-quality teaching, and contribute to meaningful research. You’ll also play a key role in building strong connections with local service providers and national professional networks—all while supporting students on their journey to becoming confident, capable, and job-ready graduates.

You will:

  • contribute to learning and teaching practices within the social work and human services discipline;
  • undertake high-impact research;
  • supervise honours students and HDR candidates; 
  • play a part in successful research grant applications; and 
  • contribute to governance, coordination of and participation in the school capacity-building activities, and activities that contribute to the student experience.

You’re passionate about shaping the future of social work education, bringing a values-driven approach and real-world relevance to every aspect of your teaching. You thrive on creating inclusive, engaging learning experiences that prepare students to make a meaningful impact in their communities. Beyond the classroom, you build strong connections with industry, community organisations, and professional networks—creating valuable opportunities for students and strengthening the sector. As a collaborative and supportive team member, you help foster an inclusive, student-focused university culture where everyone can thrive.

You will possess:

  • Completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing;
  • Proven track record as an effective teacher, the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to relevant areas of teaching;
  • Sound and established track record of research activity commensurate with the level of the position;
  • Sound leadership contributions and personal qualities that influence the development and maintenance of a positive academic environment which is conducive to high levels of engagement and standards of achievement for both staff and students;
  • Participation and success in academic administrative functions e.g. program coordination, within a University;
  • Eligibility for AASW Membership and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups and/or in professional practice; and
  • Evidence of regular participation in academic development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic.

Desirable

  • Experience with program coordination or leadership.
  • Formal external and/or internal recognition for excellence in learning and teaching and/or research.
  • Principal supervisor with successful completions of HDR students.
  • Experience with program reviews and external accreditation.
  • Significant direct practice experience and ability to teach direct skills classes.
  • Research network national and/or internationally.
