The Opportunity

As a Senior Finance Business Partner, you'll play a key role in supporting clients across the University to achieve their strategic priorities. You'll provide expert financial advice, planning, and management, backed by insightful analysis and innovative solutions. From developing business cases and crafting dashboards to enabling forecasting and monitoring budgets, your work will be integral to modernising financial performance reporting. With a commitment to best practices and compliance, you'll ensure financial systems meet legislative, policy, and professional standards within the Australian government frameworks and higher education sector. Collaboration is at the heart of this role, working alongside Financial Services, the Information & Analytics Unit, IT Services, and senior staff to drive impactful outcomes.

You will

  • provide expert financial management services, including budgets, forecasts, analysis, and business models, to support informed decision making;
  • enhance financial reporting and processes, delivering efficiency and impactful outcomes for clients; and
  • collaborate with senior leaders, committees, and stakeholders to address key financial priorities.

You will possess:

  • Proven experience developing, implementing, and delivering advanced financial toolkits (e.g., business cases, monitoring, and reporting) that exceed client expectations.
  • Expertise in accounting standards, financial management, and high-level financial reporting.
  • A strong track record in preparing and analysing complex financial reports, resolving issues, and communicating technical information clearly to diverse audiences.
  • Advanced proficiency with Microsoft Office Suite, including VBA, Power BI, and Power Query.
  • Exceptional business acumen and leadership skills, with demonstrated success in achieving results in complex environments.
  • Ability to work autonomously and collaboratively, manage competing priorities, and consistently meet deadlines.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills to build strong relationships, influence outcomes, and deliver exceptional client service across all levels of the business.

Desirable

  • Experience in the higher education sector, with an understanding of challenges shaping its strategic direction.
  • CPA qualification or equivalent.
  • Familiarity with UniSC enterprise systems, including Technology One CiA (Finance) and PeopleSoft (Student Management, HR, and Payroll).
