The Opportunity

You will oversee the coordination of the MAIC/UniSC Road Safety Research Collaboration's research projects, ensuring strict adherence to research management frameworks, ethical standards, and workplace health and safety protocols. This role involves scheduling and supervising casual research officers conducting participant testing on campus, verifying the accuracy of recorded hours against individual projects, and maintaining adequate testing stock levels. Additionally, you will provide high-level administrative support, ensuring testing spaces and sessions operate seamlessly and concurrently. Your responsibilities will include strategic planning to enhance processes, developing and sharing resources, training new research officers, and acting as the primary point of contact for participants.

This position requires a proactive approach to improving workflows, strong organisational skills, and the ability to balance multiple priorities in a dynamic research environment

You will

  • coordinate the implementation and progression of projects undertaken by RSRC academic staff;
  • ensure compliance with all aspects of the research management framework and governance, including national ethical regulations; and
  • develop and implement a framework for coordinating and reporting of individual projects, as well as drive ongoing improvements to the RSRC program of work.

About you

You demonstrate the ability to work both independently and collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team, effectively managing competing timelines. Your highly developed organisational skills enable you to schedule and oversee complex series of calendar appointments with ease. Furthermore, your strong personal qualities and collegial approach play a key role in fostering and maintaining a positive academic environment that supports collaboration and achievement.

You will possess:

  • degree in Psychology or Health Sciences (or other relevant disciplines); or extensive experience and research management expertise in a tertiary setting; or an equivalent combination of relevant experience and/or education/training;
  • research experience including conducting and managing phases of a research project to timely completion including participant recruitment, data collection, and data curation;
  • sound knowledge of research methodology and experience in developing operating procedure documents, laboratory manuals or protocols; and
  • good understanding of research ethics and integrity frameworks within an Australian tertiary environment.
