The Opportunity

Data is a strategic asset at UniSC, and we are entering a new era of enterprise analytics. The Insights and Analytics Unit plays a central role in enabling the University to responsibly leverage data to inform strategy, performance and decision‑making at scale.

Reporting to the Program Manager, Data Analytics, the Senior Data and Business Intelligence Developer is a key technical contributor within UniSC’s enterprise data and analytics program. You will design, build and deliver modern data and BI solutions that support institutional reporting, forecasting and insight generation across a complex and distributed organisation.

This is a hands‑on role for an experienced data professional who enjoys working at the intersection of technology and business, partnering with stakeholders to turn complex data into trusted, meaningful insights that matter.

You will

  • design, build and maintain scalable data pipelines, data models and warehouse solutions that support enterprise analytics and reporting;
  • deliver high‑quality BI products, including dashboards and visualisations, that enable confident, data‑driven decision‑making;
  • partner with stakeholders across the University to understand requirements, mature datasets and translate business needs into effective data solutions; and
  • ensure data quality, security and sustainability through strong governance, documentation and modern engineering practices.

About you

You are an experienced data and BI professional who combines strong technical capability with a collaborative, consultative approach. You enjoy solving complex problems, working with diverse stakeholders and delivering solutions that are robust, trusted and genuinely useful. You bring a practical mindset, clear communication skills and a commitment to responsible data use, quality and continuous improvement.

You will possess:

  • Strong experience in data warehouse design, BI development and data visualisation
  • Hands‑on expertise with Azure data technologies, including data pipelines, ETL and integration solutions
  • Advanced SQL skills and experience with programming and scripting languages such as Python and PowerShell
  • Knowledge of data governance, data quality, security and privacy best practices
  • Well‑developed communication and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to translate technical concepts into clear insights
  • The ability to manage competing priorities and contribute effectively within a complex project environment
