The Opportunity

The Thompson Institute is a leading research facility dedicated to advancing understanding of brain and mental health through innovative translational imaging and treatment approaches. Bringing together researchers, clinicians, and participants, the Institute supports impactful research that informs prevention, diagnosis and treatment of mental health conditions.

We are seeking qualified rTMS-trained Registered Nurses to support the National PTSD Research Centre. In this role, you will deliver repetitive Transcranial Magnetic Stimulation (rTMS) treatments for both clinical and research purposes, contributing to high-quality, trauma-informed care and cutting-edge clinical trials.

You will

• deliver rTMS treatments in line with clinical and/or clinical trial protocols;
• undertake safety checks and ensure compliance with rTMS safety standards;
• monitor participant response to treatment and maintain accurate clinical documentation; and
• work closely with our psychiatrist and the clinical trials team to deliver high-quality, trauma-informed care.

About you

You are a compassionate and skilled Registered Nurse with experience or a strong interest in mental health and innovative treatment approaches. You bring a high level of professionalism, attention to detail, and the ability to work collaboratively within a multidisciplinary team. Confident in your clinical practice and use of technology, you are committed to delivering safe, patient-centred care.

You will possess:

• Current registration with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA);
• Completion of a RANZCP-accredited rTMS course;
• Experience in mental health nursing or a mental health setting (highly regarded);
• Demonstrated competency and confidence in rTMS equipment and associated technology; and
• Strong communication and interpersonal skills, with a commitment to trauma-informed care.
