The Opportunity

The Venues & Catering team within CD&S manage the food outlets at the UniSC Sunshine Coast campus. Venues and Catering also provide function and event management and catering services and liaise with other UniSC campuses to ensure consistency in event planning and delivery. This role provides broad administrative, client service and financial support to the Venues and Catering team, ensuring efficient daily operations, high-quality client engagement and accurate financial processing.

This is a casual opportunity offering approximately 20-25 hours per week, with flexibility to work weekday, weekend and occasional out-of-hours shifts in line with business requirements.

You will

  • respond to enquiries and manage Venues & Catering inboxes, ensuring timely & professional responses;
  • liaise with clients through face-to-face interaction, site visits, on-site inductions and detailed event follow-up;
  • manage room allocations for venue hire, events and external examinations across campus;
  • communicate daily event updates and changes to the team and key stakeholders;
  • undertake daily financial processing including raising accounts receivable invoices, distributing accounts payable invoices and managing creditor and debtor follow-up;
  • collate daily sales information, produce internal reports and prepare monthly journal requests using POS systems and spreadsheets;
  • maintain and utilise back-of-house POS systems, including sales reporting, stock entry and account control functions;
  • assist with marketing and communication updates for Venues & Catering, including social media, in-house advertising and on-campus promotions during key events such as Orientation, Connect Week and Open Day; and
  • provide general administrative support to the Venues and Catering team as required.

About you

You will bring excellent customer service, communication and organisational skills, along with the ability to balance administrative, event and financial responsibilities. You thrive in a fast-paced environment, demonstrate strong attention to detail, and are comfortable working both independently and collaboratively.

You will possess:

  • demonstrated experience in administration and/or financial processing, ideally within venues, events, hospitality or a similar setting;
  • strong attention to detail and the ability to follow procedures consistently;
  • exceptional customer service focus with professional personal presentation;
  • demonstrated proficiency in MS Office and the ability to learn and use various technical systems (e.g. financial and POS systems);
  • ability to prioritise tasks, meet deadlines and manage competing demands;
  • studies in business, finance, administration or event management, or equivalent experience, will be highly regarded;
  • ability to assist with room setup and some manual handling as required; and
  • possession of a Queensland C Class Manual Driver’s Licence (essential, as the role requires driving UniSC vehicles).
