The Lecturer in Physiotherapy - Musculoskeletal will play a pivotal role in advancing both teaching and research within the Physiotherapy Discipline. Primarily based at Sippy Downs, the Lecturer may also be required to teach across multiple campuses. In addition to conducting and contributing to research, the Lecturer will actively participate in professional activities at UniSC. Responsibilities will include teaching, course coordination, and supervising students within undergraduate health programs.

  • be an effective teacher and make sound independent contributions to delivering teaching, learning and graduate outcomes;
  • have launched a research track record and be developing your research profile;
  • demonstrate engagement within the University through contributions to governance; coordination of and participation in School capacity-building activities; and activities that contribute to the student experience;  and
  • develop productive industry and community links that benefit students, the community and/or the University. 

About you:

Our ideal candidate possesses a blend of academic expertise and a deep commitment to embedding Physiotherapy at UniSC. With experience in physiotherapy education, including curriculum development and program accreditation, you will be well-equipped to embed the program, fostering collaboration and innovation within the program.

Communication skills are integral, enabling effective engagement with stakeholders, from staff and students to healthcare professionals and accreditation bodies. Committed to student success, you will create a supportive learning environment conducive to growth and achievement. This includes a deep understanding of pedagogical principles and instructional strategies, including implementing effective teaching methods to enhance student learning outcomes. You will create a conducive learning environment, maintaining discipline and fostering a positive atmosphere for learning. Assessment and feedback; designing fair and relevant assessments to evaluate student progress and areas for improvement. Adaptability and flexibility; adapt to diverse learning needs and situations, adjusting the teaching approach based on student feedback and emerging educational trends. Continuous professional development, a commitment to own professional growth and development, actively seeking opportunities to expand knowledge, attend workshops, conferences, and engage in research to stay current.

You will possess:

  • unrestricted current registration to practice physiotherapy in Australia;
  • at least 5 years of clinical experience as a physiotherapist with musculoskeletal physiotherapy expertise;
  • completion or near-completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing;
  • evidence of research experience, including for example, refereed publications; participation in research teams; co-supervision of candidates for honours and higher degrees by research; and
  • membership of and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups and/or in professional practice.
