As the Associate Professor of Clinical Psychology, you will be part of a vibrant team dedicated to shaping the next generation of psychologists while contributing to groundbreaking research in trauma-based therapies and child/adolescent mental health.

Join us in our mission to deliver hands-on learning experiences in our modern laboratories, paramedic suites, and nursing wards, preparing our students to make meaningful contributions to healthcare. In this pivotal role, you will support the growth of student numbers, particularly in postgraduate studies, strengthen industry and community linkages, and deliver excellence in teaching and research.

In this role, you will:

  • provide high-quality teaching and leadership in postgraduate clinical psychology programs;
  • supervise students in clinical psychology, ensuring their professional development through advanced research and clinical practice;
  • foster strategic and productive partnerships with industry and community stakeholders that benefit students, the university, and the broader community;
  • contribute to the operation of UniSC’s psychology clinic, providing mental health services to the community and functioning as a research and teaching facility;
  • lead and contribute to trauma-based research, particularly in child/adolescent therapies and PTSD, with a strong track record of external research funding and publications.

About you:

As an ideal candidate, you will possess strong subject matter expertise in clinical psychology, alongside a passion for teaching, research, and fostering student success. You will demonstrate excellent leadership, a national or international research profile, and a proven ability to mentor students and colleagues.

You will possess:

  • A doctoral qualification in Clinical Psychology;
  • Full registration as a psychologist with the Psychology Board of Australia and endorsement in Clinical Psychology;
  • A track record of research excellence in child/adolescent mental health or trauma-based therapies (e.g., CBT, EMDR);
  • Experience supervising Higher Degree by Research candidates;
  • A passion for leadership in teaching and curriculum development;
  • Proven success in fostering academic partnerships and leading research projects.
