The Opportunity

Join UniSC as a Lecturer in Nutrition and Dietetics, where you'll inspire students through engaging teaching in our Bachelor of Dietetics (Honours) and Bachelor of Nutrition programs, conduct impactful research, and collaborate with regional nutrition professionals to enhance learning experiences. Based at our vibrant Sippy Downs campus, you'll also participate in professional and community engagement activities, contributing to the growth and excellence of our Nutrition and Dietetics discipline.

You will:

  • contribute to learning and teaching practices within the nutrition and dietetics discipline;
  • undertake high-impact research;
  • supervise honours students and HDR candidates; 
  • play a part in successful research grant applications; and 
  • contribute to governance, coordination of and participation in the school capacity-building activities, and activities that contribute to the student experience.

About you:

Our ideal candidate will bring expertise in nutrition and dietetics, strong pedagogical skills, and excellent communication abilities, paired with a genuine enthusiasm for teaching and learning. You will prioritise students' needs, employ innovative teaching methods, and commit to creating an engaging and supportive learning environment. This role requires a comprehensive understanding of pedagogical principles and instructional strategies, utilising effective techniques to enhance student outcomes. You will excel in assessment and feedback, designing fair evaluations to gauge progress and identify areas for development. Adaptability and flexibility are crucial, as you will tailor your approach to diverse learning needs and evolving educational trends. A dedication to continuous professional development is essential, actively seeking growth opportunities, attending workshops and conferences, and engaging in research to stay current in the field.

You will possess:

  • completion or near-completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing;
  • recognition as an Accredited Practising Dietitian (APD) by Dietitians Australia;
  • proven track record as an effective teacher, the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to relevant areas of teaching;
  • membership and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups;
  • sound and established track record of research activity commensurate with the level of the position; and
  • evidence of participation in academic development activities and the desire to continue to learn and improve as an effective academic.

Desirable

  • experience undertaking academic administrative functions, e.g. course coordination, within a University.
