The Opportunity

We are seeking a Lecturer in Midwifery to contribute to high-quality teaching, curriculum delivery, and graduate outcomes within our Midwifery programs. This ongoing academic position forms part of UniSC’s Secure Employment Commitment and provides an excellent opportunity for an emerging or established academic to further develop their teaching and research profile. You may also contribute to professional work-integrated learning activities, supporting students to become safe, capable, and compassionate midwives prepared for contemporary practice.

You will:

  • deliver high-quality teaching and contribute to curriculum development and coordination across undergraduate and/or postgraduate Midwifery programs;
  • contribute to an emerging research profile aligned with midwifery, women’s health, or related health priorities, including publications and participation in research teams; and
  • engage with industry, professional bodies, and the University community to enhance student learning, work-integrated learning, and program quality.

About you:

You are a registered midwife with a passion for educating the next generation of midwives and contributing to evidence-informed practice. You bring strong communication and organisational skills, enjoy working collaboratively, and are committed to inclusive, respectful, and student-centred teaching. You are motivated to develop your academic career while contributing positively to a collegial and supportive academic environment.

You will possess:

  • Current registration as a midwife with the Australian Health Practitioner Regulation Agency (AHPRA);
  • Completion or near-completion of a PhD in a relevant field, or equivalent accreditation and standing;
  • Demonstrated effectiveness as a teacher, supported by student feedback, peer review, and/or student learning outcomes;
  • Evidence of research experience and potential, including publications, participation in research teams, and knowledge of relevant research methodologies; and
  • Strong collegial and professional qualities, with a commitment to ongoing academic development and contribution to a positive workplace culture.

Desirable

  • Experience undertaking academic administrative functions such as course coordination or assessment moderation;
  • postgraduate qualifications in higher education.
