The Opportunity

The Centre for Learning and Teaching (CLT) collaborates across UniSC to enhance learning and teaching capability, improve student success, and strengthen institutional effectiveness and sustainability. CLT promotes a culture of scholarly, learner-centred practice through initiatives that support academic integrity, professional development, curriculum design, curriculum accreditation and management, learning and teaching evaluation, and transformative educational experiences through innovation, technologies, and learning spaces.

As the Educational Designer – UDL Lead, you will operate at a strategic level to embed UDL principles and accessibility practices across UniSC’s curriculum and assessment design. You will collaborate with academic leaders, program coordinators, and professional staff to reduce barriers for diverse learners, drive institutional strategies for inclusive learning, and lead projects integrating emerging technologies aligned with UniSC’s PACE Learning and Teaching Model. This role also provides leadership and mentoring for one direct report, fostering a high-performing and collaborative team culture.

You will:

  • lead the development and implementation of strategies that embed UDL and accessibility principles across curriculum, assessment, and professional learning programs;
  • provide expert advice to academic and professional staff, senior leadership, and governance committees on inclusive learning design and sector best practice; and
  • design and deliver professional learning initiatives, establish communities of practice, and oversee projects to evaluate and enhance inclusive learning outcomes across the University.

About you

You are a strategic, solutions-focused leader with extensive experience in inclusive learning design, accessibility, and Universal Design for Learning in higher education. You bring strong project leadership, communication, and advisory skills, with a proven ability to influence institutional practices and lead teams to achieve excellence in teaching and learning. You are highly collaborative, analytical, and committed to fostering equitable, innovative, and student-centred learning environments.

You will possess:

  • postgraduate qualifications in a relevant field and/or extensive experience in inclusive learning design, accessibility, and UDL.
  • demonstrated expertise in applying UDL principles and accessibility standards in higher education curriculum and assessment design.
  • proven ability to lead strategic projects, influence institutional practice, and build staff capability in inclusive and technology-enhanced learning.
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to engage diverse stakeholders and foster positive team cultures.
  • high-level analytical and problem-solving skills, with proficiency in assistive technologies, web accessibility standards, and media development tools; and
  • experience supervising staff and leading initiatives that promote inclusive, ethical, and respectful workplace practices.
