The School of Science, Technology, and Engineering (SSTE) is a leader in addressing global challenges through STEM education, equipping students with the skills to develop innovative, sustainable solutions. Our Engineering Discipline is a growing hub of research and teaching excellence, with strengths in sustainable building, renewable energy, advanced manufacturing, and more. Collaborating with the ARM-Hub and industry partners like Veolia and SMEC, we bridge academic and practical expertise. UniSC ranks above the national average for student experience, with 86% of our engineering graduates securing full-time employment (QILT Survey 2021). We are expanding programs, including new offerings at our Moreton Bay Campus, and exploring postgraduate qualifications to meet future needs.

The Opportunity

We are seeking a Lecturer (Level B) in Information and Communication Technology (ICT) to join the Technology Discipline within the School of Science, Technology and Engineering. In this role, you will deliver high-quality teaching across undergraduate and postgraduate programs in areas such as database systems, systems design, programming, cloud computing or related fields. You will use contemporary, student-centred approaches to create engaging learning experiences, while developing your research profile through publications, collaborations, industry engagement, and supervision of Honours and HDR students.

As part of a dynamic and collaborative team, you will complement the Technology Discipline’s strengths in software engineering and application development, database systems and data management, networks and emerging cloud platforms, cyber security and digital forensics, and artificial intelligence and smart systems. This is an exciting opportunity for an early-career academic who is passionate about inspiring students, advancing impactful research, and contributing to digital transformation initiatives across the region.

You will:

  • deliver high-quality teaching and learning experiences in ICT, fostering student success and engagement;
  • contribute to research activity through publications, collaborations, grant applications, and HDR supervision (aligned to experience); and
  • engage with the University, industry, and community to build partnerships, enhance curriculum relevance, and support governance and service activities.

About you:

You are an emerging ICT academic with a passion for contemporary, student-centred education and a commitment to applied, industry-aligned learning. You create engaging learning experiences and demonstrate adaptability across diverse student cohorts. You are motivated to build your research profile, participate in collaborative projects, and forge meaningful relationships with industry and community partners.

You will possess:

  • Completion or near-completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field, or equivalent accreditation and standing;
  • Proven effectiveness as a teacher, demonstrated through student feedback, curriculum development experience, and contribution to tertiary teaching;
  • Evidence of research activity, including publications, participation in research teams, and supervision of Honours or HDR candidates;
  • Membership of, and strong connections with, relevant professional bodies, community organisations, or ICT professional practice; and
  • Evidence of engagement in academic development activities and a commitment to continuous professional growth.

Desirable

  • Experience undertaking academic administrative functions (e.g., course coordination) within a University.
