The Opportunity

As Clinical Trials Operations Manager, you will lead the day-to-day operations of UniSC Clinical Trials at our Southbank location, ensuring everything runs smoothly, responsibly and in line with relevant quality standards, regulations and guidelines. This is a trusted leadership role with oversight of all Southbank staff, including direct supervision of Senior Clinical Trial Coordinators, Pharmacy, Laboratory and Project Administration teams as assigned. Working at the intersection of research excellence, community impact and collaboration with government and industry partners, you will create an environment where high-quality clinical trials can thrive and where people feel supported to do their best work.

You will

  • oversee end-to-end clinical trial operations, ensuring high-quality research delivery that meets regulatory standards, timelines and budgets across the Centre;
  • support strategic and operational leadership, partnering with the Director and Deputy Director on planning, budgeting and reporting, while coordinating site set-up and clinical trial delivery at Southbank; and
  • strengthen performance and profile, driving continuous improvement across teams and operations, building strong external partnerships, and promoting UniSC Clinical Trials to maximise impact.

About you

Our ideal candidate is someone who thrives at the centre of clinical research operations. You’re comfortable setting the pace, bringing clarity to complexity and keeping multiple studies moving forward with confidence and care. You bring a steady, hands-on approach to leading day-to-day trial activity, supporting study teams and investigators from early feasibility through to close-out, and making sure the right plans, people and processes are in place at every stage. You’re someone who enjoys developing others, creating a collaborative team environment and making thoughtful decisions about resourcing, priorities and risk. With a strong eye for quality and safety, you take pride in doing things well, strengthening policies, improving ways of working and partnering closely with internal and external stakeholders to ensure UniSC Clinical Trials continues to deliver trusted, high-quality research with real impact.

You will possess:

  • A relevant qualification in health or science, or equivalent experience, with demonstrated success leading and delivering clinical trials.
  • A people-centred leadership approach that fosters trust, motivation and a positive team culture.
  • The confidence to navigate complexity and change while maintaining professionalism under pressure.
  • Working knowledge of ICH/GCP and clinical trial regulatory requirements.
  • Experience coaching and developing teams to achieve strong operational outcomes.
  • Proven clinical trial project management skills, including effective resource planning.
  • Strong organisational skills, with the ability to manage competing priorities and deadlines.
  • A considered approach to delegation that enables shared accountability and high performance.
  • The ability to build and maintain strong relationships with internal colleagues and external partners.
