As our Health, Rehabilitation & Return to Work Adviser, you’ll lead the way in managing injury cases and shaping positive, proactive return to work outcomes. Working closely with a supportive Health, Safety and Wellbeing team, you’ll provide trusted advice on both Workers’ Compensation and non-compensable injuries and illness. This is a role that blends expert guidance with genuine care, helping others get back on track while ensuring we meet our obligations with confidence and compassion.

You will

  • promote a healthy, safe and inclusive workplace by supporting compliance with legislation, policies and university-wide agreements;
  • partner with colleagues and external providers to create thoughtful, proactive return to work and stay at work pathways;
  • lead the way in preparing clear, well-considered responses for Workers’ Compensation and independent medical assessments; and
  • help shape smarter ways of working by supporting clients and contributing to initiatives that boost efficiency and impact.

About you

You're someone who brings clarity, compassion and confidence to every conversation. Whether you're guiding a staff member through recovery, collaborating with medical providers, or helping managers understand their responsibilities, you bring a steady hand and a supportive approach. You know the ins and outs of injury management and return to work processes, and you're always looking for ways to make them smoother, smarter and more supportive. You're great with the detail too, from policies and plans to reports and systems, but you never lose sight of the people behind them. You're ready to make a meaningful difference in the way we support health, safety and recovery at UniSC.

You will possess:

  • Completion of accredited Rehabilitation and Return to Work Coordinator training through a recognised Workers’ Compensation Regulator.
  • Strong interpersonal skills, with extensive experience in consulting, influencing, facilitating and building trust with a wide range of stakeholders.
  • Proficiency in interpreting, analysing and solving complex issues related to injured or ill workers.
  • Excellent written communication skills, with experience preparing detailed responses and documents for WorkCover, compensation services and medical specialists.
  • Sound judgement in providing advice on both the physical and psychosocial aspects of injury management.
  • Experience in administering Workers’ Compensation policies across multiple states and territories.
  • A deep understanding of the regulatory environment, including legislation, standards and codes of practice in work health and safety, workers’ compensation, human resources and privacy.
