The Opportunity

We are excited to offer a leadership opportunity for a Director, Strategic Procurement and Major Contracts to join our team. This newly established role will be pivotal in shaping UniSC’s procurement function, enhancing our procurement processes, and supporting our growth as a university. Based at our beautiful Sunshine Coast campus, you will lead a small team and collaborate with key stakeholders to deliver innovative procurement strategies and best practice supply chain management.

As the Director, you will:

  • Lead the transformation of our procurement model, improving efficiency and uplifting procurement maturity across the university.
  • Develop and implement strategic procurement initiatives that align with UniSC’s long-term goals.
  • Oversee major contract management, ensuring financially beneficial outcomes and building partnerships with critical suppliers.
  • Chair UniSC’s Procurement Steering Committee and collaborate with key internal stakeholders to achieve strategic objectives.
  • Drive innovative solutions to improve demand and supply management, while prioritising local suppliers to support our community.

We value a balance between work flexibility and engaging with teams onsite, this role will be primarily office-based at our Sippy Downs campus in a 4:1 hybrid working model.

About You

You are a seasoned procurement professional with extensive experience across a range of industries, ideally including the tertiary education sector, which equips you with a broad and adaptable approach to procurement management. Your career reflects a deep understanding of strategic procurement, and you excel in navigating complex, high-stakes contracts that require both meticulous attention to detail and big-picture thinking. You have a proven ability to lead and inspire high-performing teams, creating a culture of continuous improvement and operational excellence.

You are not only a strategic thinker but also a hands-on leader, capable of transforming procurement processes to maximise value for the organisation. Your strong leadership skills enable you to mentor and develop your team, fostering a collaborative environment that supports both personal and professional growth.
