At the School of Education and Tertiary Access, we are a dynamic community of educators, students, and researchers committed to excellence in education, outdoor environmental studies, and tertiary access pathways. As part of our close-knit team, you'll have the opportunity to empower students to become influential leaders and advocates, driving positive change both locally and globally. With strong ties to public and independent schools in the region, your involvement in developing and delivering impactful programs for pre-service teachers will be instrumental in shaping the future of education. Your research will make a real-world impact, contributing to our legacy of quality studies and mentorship.

In this role, you will teach across Certificate to Masters levels, delivering innovative content both online and in-person, while fostering strong connections with the education community. Actively engaging with the sector, you will build partnerships and supervise students during professional experience placements, ensuring they are well-prepared for their careers. You will have a deep knowledge of your curriculum teaching and classroom experience, including the ability to engage in the scholarship of teaching. You will actively engage with the education sector in your teaching areas and developing strong community connections with the education community.

You will:

  • support professional experience in courses and student placement; liaising with and supervising students during professional experience placements;
  • have an emerging research focus in the field of education and a willingness to collaborate with others to develop research teams and undertake funded projects; and
  • stay abreast of the latest research and trends in the field, actively participate in professional development activities, develop and implement innovative teaching strategies and collaborate with other professionals to build a research program in education.

About you:

As a passionate and dedicated educator with exceptional expertise in your subject area and outstanding communication skills, you create engaging, student-centered learning experiences. Your innovative and effective pedagogical approaches, combined with a commitment to fostering a love of learning, set you apart as a leader in education. You excel in mentoring aspiring teachers, supporting their smooth transition into the profession, and guiding their development into confident, capable educators who make meaningful contributions to the field.

You will possess:

  • completion or near-completion of a doctoral qualification in a relevant field or equivalent accreditation and standing including eligibility to gain Queensland College of Teacher (QCT) registration;
  • effectiveness as a teacher including the capacity to conceive, develop and deliver higher education curricula and contribute to relevant areas of teaching;
  • research experience and potential including for example: refereed publications, participation in research teams and sound knowledge of research methodologies relevant to the discipline/field; and
  • membership of and sound connections with relevant professional bodies and community groups and/or in professional practice.
