The Opportunity

You will support Student Success activities at the Buranga Centre by providing advice and services to students and key stakeholders, including Schools and Student Services. Your role will focus on achieving operational objectives that enhance the success and positive experiences of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students. You will engage with, support, and monitor students across campuses.

You will:

  • enhance student success, retention, and completion through various activities and services such as academic skills advising, pastoral care, residential life activities, financial support, cultural safety initiatives, and more;
  • support the continuous improvement of best practice strategies that improve enrolment, progression, and completion rates for Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander students, while also enhancing their overall university experience and sense of belonging; and
  • support the recruitment, development, and monitoring of Aboriginal and/or Torres Strait Islander Student Ambassadors for the centre, thereby addressing the advising needs of these students effectively.

About you:

Your extensive experience supporting Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander students throughout their academic journeys is a cornerstone of your success. You will be a dedicated advocate for the Buranga Centre, championing it as a vital resource for student success and Indigenous advancement across the university.

Your well-developed interpersonal and organisational skills enable you to work both independently and as part of a team. You excel at interacting with a diverse range of people, prioritising tasks to meet deadlines, maintaining confidentiality, and exercising initiative and independent judgment.
