As the Technical Officer (Diving and Boating), you will act as UniSC's designated Dive Officer and Boating Technician, supporting safe and compliant diving and boating activities across the University. You will provide technical expertise, oversee specialised assets and equipment, coordinate training and inductions, and ensure operations align with relevant legislation, standards and University requirements.

You will

You build positive relationships with a wide range of stakeholders and are confident providing specialist advice, training and operational support in complex environments. Highly organised and solutions-focused, you can manage competing priorities while maintaining strong compliance, safety and service standards.

You will possess:

  • Completion of a degree with subsequent relevant experience in marine research, scientific diving operations or a related field, or an equivalent combination of education, training and experience;
  • Current qualifications and licences including certification meeting AS2815.1 requirements, a minimum of 100 hours of underwater diving experience, enriched air nitrox certification, Advanced First Aid, CPR and Oxygen Resuscitation, an AS2299.1 Occupational Diving Medical, Coxswain Class 1 and a current driver's licence;
  • Demonstrated knowledge of workplace health and safety practices, scientific diving standards and boating operations, with the ability to promote a strong culture of safety and compliance;
  • Significant experience providing technical support in fieldwork, diving or boating environments, including the development and implementation of risk assessments, safe work procedures and operational documentation;
  • Demonstrated ability to analyse and resolve complex technical and operational issues, manage competing priorities and adapt effectively in a dynamic environment; and
  • Well-developed communication, organisational and stakeholder engagement skills, with the ability to deliver training, provide specialist advice and maintain high levels of client service.
