Working under the guidance of the Team Leader, Science (Technical Operations), you will assist with the preparation, set-up, and pack-down of practical activities, as well as the maintenance and cleaning of equipment and facilities.   • assist with routine housekeeping and maintenance of laboratory facilities;
  • actively engage in ASU initiatives and contribute to partnerships across ASU teams to achieve shared objectives; and
  • contribute to a positive, inclusive, and safe work environment by modelling respectful, ethical, and culturally capable behaviour.

About you

You are practical, organised, and solutions-focused, with a strong commitment to supporting high-quality science education. You are comfortable working in a busy academic environment and can manage competing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.

You will possess:

  • completion of an associate diploma-level qualification with relevant experience supporting clinical teaching in a health-related discipline (or an equivalent combination of training and experience);
  • previous technical/lab support experience in teaching and/or research environments.
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team;
  • ability to manage conflicting demands in a client focused fast changing academic environment with strong organisational and time management skills;
  • demonstrated commitment to maintaining high standards of cleanliness and housekeeping in a practical environment;
  • ability to work both independently and collaboratively while maintaining positive working relationships in a diverse workplace culture;
  • working knowledge of workplace health and safety practices, including complying with work instructions, policies, guidelines and legislation relevant to laboratories with practical experience with different laboratory waste streams, and good laboratory practices;
  • sound skills in carrying out calculations and basic quality checks on scientific methods and procedures; and
  • the flexibility to work varied hours and across multiple campuses as required.
