The Opportunity

UniSC is seeking applications from motivated and technically capable professionals to join the Academic Support Unit (ASU) as a Technical Assistant (Nursing & Midwifery). This role plays a vital part in supporting high-quality teaching and learning through the delivery of technical services within clinical teaching and simulation environments.

Working under the guidance of the Senior Technician (Nursing & Midwifery), you will contribute to the preparation, operation, and safe use of simulation equipment and clinical learning facilities that support undergraduate and postgraduate Nursing and Midwifery programs. If you are passionate about simulation-based education and enjoy working in a dynamic, collaborative environment, we’d love to hear from you.

You will

  • provide technical support for the delivery of Nursing and Midwifery teaching activities, ensuring a positive and consistent learning experience for students;
  • assist with the preparation, operation, and instruction in the use of simulation equipment and clinical learning facilities, including high-fidelity simulation technologies;
  • support the safe operation and WH&S compliance of clinical teaching spaces;
  • undertake general maintenance, cleaning, calibration, and safe operation of clinical equipment;
  • assist with inventory management, stock control, goods receipt, and storage of clinical consumables;
  • work collaboratively with Technical Operations and clinical simulation staff across campuses; and
  • contribute to a positive, inclusive, and safe work environment by modelling ethical, respectful, and culturally capable behaviour.

About you

You are adaptable, practical, and solutions-focused, with a strong interest in supporting contemporary clinical education. You bring energy and flexibility to your work, are comfortable working across multiple campuses, and can operate effectively in a high-volume teaching environment with minimal supervision.

You will possess:

  • completion of an associate diploma-level qualification with relevant experience supporting clinical teaching in a health-related discipline (or an equivalent combination of training and experience);
  • experience as a registered nurse (advantageous but not essential);
  • strong interpersonal and communication skills, with the ability to work effectively both independently and as part of a team;
  • a demonstrated commitment to simulation-based learning and its role in transforming education;
  • the ability to acquire and apply knowledge of relevant policies, guidelines, legislation, and WH&S requirements within clinical spaces;
  • experience in identifying, documenting, and implementing outcomes of risk assessments;
  • strong analytical and problem-solving skills; and
  • the flexibility to work varied hours and across multiple campuses as required.
