The Opportunity

You’ll play a pivotal role in driving effective procurement, sourcing, and contracting across the University, delivering practical advice and hands-on support that ensures value-for-money outcomes and minimises risk. From planning and market engagement through to contract finalisation and supplier performance, you’ll support the full procurement lifecycle, ensuring alignment with frameworks, policies, and strategic objectives.

Working in partnership with a wide range of stakeholders, you’ll build strong relationships and champion good procurement practice. With a proactive, solution-focused approach, you’ll help uplift capability, streamline processes, and contribute to improved procurement outcomes that support the University’s mission.

You will

  • Provide proactive, hands-on support across the full procurement and contract lifecycle, including planning, sourcing, negotiation, contract establishment, and ongoing contract management to ensure value, compliance, and performance;
  • Partner with stakeholders to deliver fit-for-purpose procurement solutions, offering advice and guidance that supports business needs, manages risk, and strengthens supplier relationships; and
  • Contribute to procurement leadership by driving good practice, continuous improvement, and consistent application of procurement and contracting framework, tools, and processes across the University.

About you

You’re a collaborative professional who takes a business partnering approach, fostering strong, constructive relationships with stakeholders at all levels. Highly organised and proactive, you excel at managing competing priorities, streamlining processes, and delivering results on time and with precision. With strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset, you drive smarter procurement practices and deliver tangible value for stakeholders. Your clear and confident communication skills enable you to prepare high-quality documentation, contracts, and reports, while engaging effectively with colleagues and external partners alike.

You will possess:

  • Relevant qualifications and/or a combination of extensive relevant experience in procurement, sourcing, and commercial advisory, with demonstrated understanding of procurement processes, governance frameworks, and operations within complex organisational environments;
  • Experience in a procurement or commercial advisory role within an organisation characterised by structured governance frameworks and administrative processes;
  • Sound knowledge and practical experience in delivering procurement strategies, sourcing activities, market engagements, and supporting contract lifecycle management to achieve value for money and manage risk;
  • Demonstrated ability to apply a business partnering approach, with proven skills in developing and maintaining constructive and collaborative relationships with a range of stakeholders; and
  • Good working knowledge of procurement and contract management systems, along with proficiency in Excel or similar tools to support analysis and reporting.

Desirable:

  • Experience in the higher education sector and an understanding of current requirements in relation to Queensland Procurement Policy.
